Gig-itty, gig-itty Friday, November 23, 2007

So, as you may or may not know, Allen has been playing his music with Richard, Nathan, and Gil. They have their first gig next Friday (November 30) at a benefit for Toys For Tots at the Texan. It is my understanding, they are supposed to go on around 11 p.m. He is nervous because he hasn’t done this in a while but, I know they are going to get up there and rock it. I will try to get pictures for you of the event.

Understanding the World Around You Wednesday, November 21, 2007

Recently, I tried to speak to certain people about climate change. I feel like it is an important issue people need to, at the least, acknowledge. However, these people blew me off and tried to turn the conversation into a political bitch session on Gore, ignoring the issue of global warming all together. So, what now? I am going to put a link on here. I REALLY hope the people I tried to have the conversation with will hit that link and, hopefully, read the information. It comes from “The Royal Society, the national academy of science of the UK and the Commonwealth, is at the cutting edge of scientific progress. It supports many top young scientists, engineers and technologists. It influences science policy, it debates scientific issues with the public and much more. It is an independent, charitable body which derives its authoritative status from its 1400 Fellows and Foreign Members.” Besides climate change, there are a lot of really great topics on there. So, check it out. It NEVER hurts to learn about the world around you.

Sunny days! The earliest episodes of “Sesame Street” are available on digital video! Break out some Keebler products, fire up the DVD player and prepare for the exquisite pleasure-pain of top-shelf nostalgia. Just don’t bring the children. According to an earnest warning on Volumes 1 and 2, “Sesame Street: Old School” is adults-only: “These early ‘Sesame Street’ episodes are intended for grown-ups, and may not suit the needs of today’s preschool child.”
Say what?

Hey guys! I have been changing up the website a little bit. I am not completely finished with it but I am happy with what I have done so far. You can check it out at midaswhale.com.
I may not have loaded the page correctly. Give me a couple of days to figure it out and then, try again.
Steel Nipples Friday, November 16, 2007
I saw this box and it made me chuckle. I’m not real sure what they are and, honestly, do not care to find out. My imagination will not accept the reality. Poor female robots being attacked by some serial killer robot who sells their parts on the black market. What a waste. It is a sad thing what some robots will do for money nowadays.

A Country Quote Saturday, November 10, 2007
I have found just an overabundance of great quotes lately. Here is a quote from a song by Billy Joe Shaver, a wonderful song-writer and musician. By the way, he is going to be playing in Corpus on December 18 at Brewster St., just in case you were interested.
“I’m thinkin’ about raising so doggone much hell that I’ll die before I live it all down.”
Bumper Sticker Friday, November 9, 2007
This is a picture of the Allen’s latest bumper sticker. I so love it and, of course, want one also.

Hey! Has anyone else noticed the bumper sticker isn’t ON the bumper?
UPDATE: No one said they couldn’t get the picture. I think I fixed that. Let me know if you do not see a picture. Thanks
Pastels Wednesday, November 7, 2007
This is my favorite line, ever, of all time, from any movie I have ever seen. It is from Addams Family Values, which is still my favorite movie. It cracks me up every single time. Like, pastels are the worst thing in the world. No really, I think it may be a close thing.
“You have gone too far. You have married Fester, you have destroyed his spirit, you have taken him from us. All that I could forgive. But Debbie… pastels? “ -Morticia
